Miami Dolphins owner Jennifer Lopez talks NFL Draft pick
She sings, she dances, runs an entertainment/clothing/perfume empire, is married to one of the most successful Latin pop stars in the world, is a mother to twins and, oh yeah, Jennifer Lopez is also part-owner of the Miami Dolphins.
Jennifer Lopez revealed her opinion on who the Miami Dolphins should select for the No. 12 NFL draft pick tonight while promoting her movie “The Backup Plan” on the Jay Leno show Wednesday night.
New York residents Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony negotiated a deal with another New Yorker, real estate entrepreneur Stephen Ross, who bought a 95-percent stake in the Miami Dolphins franchise in January 2009.
(Check the 3:42 time mark)
“We have the 12th pick, you know, so I’m leaning towards Dan Williams,” Jennifer Lopez said. “We need a defensive tackle, he’s really explosive off the line, can beat the double team and does a nice job finishing the play. But that’s just my opinion.”
Dan Williams, a 6-foot-2, 325 pound defensive tackle from the University of Tennessee, is expected to be selected in the first round of tonight’s NFL Draft in New York City. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper also projected Dan Williams will most likely go to the Miami Dolphins.
Dan Williams led the SEC last season with 70 tackles.
Should he end up a Dolphin, he’ll be in, um, good hands. Other celebrity Miami Dolphins part owners include tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, Latin singer Gloria Estefan and husband Emilio and singer Jimmy Buffett. Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie was also approved for a Miami Dolphins stake last year

Kim Kardashian a victim of domestic abuse?
Kim Kardashian and Damon Thomas
Socialite Kim Kardashian suffered beatings at the hands of her ex-husband, Damon Thomas, according to newly published court documents.
The reality TV star eloped with music producer Thomas in 2000, but the marriage reportedly turned nasty.
In 2003 court documents, obtained by Star magazine, Kardashian stated the relationship became abusive "a few months after (they) were married".
Describing one particularly bad incident before a meeting with her pal Justin Timberlake, she wrote, "(We) were going skydiving with Justin Timberlake. Before we left our home, Damon hit me in the face and cut my lip open. I fell into the bed frame and banged my knee hard. I was limping when we went skydiving."
Kardashian also claims Thomas demanded to know her every move: "If Damon were not home, I was required to call him and ask permission to leave the house. He said that he wanted to know where I was at all times."
The abuse allegedly continued well into their marriage, but Kardashian refused to call in the police because she was scared of what Thomas might do to her and her fears were realized when she eventually plucked up the courage to walk out on him.
During one encounter after their split, she says, "He threatened to kill me, my family members and the guys that I am dating."
But that wasn't the only threat against her life and the socialite -- her ex repeated the threat at least 12 times.
She adds, "At this point, I am frightened by the stories that are repeated to me."
Thomas, who has worked with artists like Lionel Richie, Pink and Tyrese, has firmly denied all accusations.
Kardashian and Thomas divorced in 2004.

For Freedom Not For Beauty
There’s a beauty that lives so deep inside each of us.
There’s a fickle eye that doesn’t believe anything it sees.
There’s a benefit in love that erases all doubt and believes good intentions.
There’s an ear that isn’t free enough to give the honest man the benefit of the doubt cluttered by lies not-mentioned.
Since when is creativity subject to criticism?
When is honesty subject to a jury of fears who wouldn’t believe rain if it fell, or sun if it shined?
Sometimes a flower grows when no one’s watching.
Sometimes a bird sings and no one hears.
There’s a meadow no one runs on and a cloud no one names.
And what would the sky be without the sun?
What would the earth be without its rose?
They’d still be the sky and the Earth.
So perhaps there is a peace in becoming.
Perhaps the meaning is in the experience and not the sight.
Maybe a flower grows because it suffocates underground.
Whether or not she is always noticed, beauty must become.
She doesn’t look for an eye.
She doesn’t listen for a voice.
She just becomes,
For Freedom Not For Beauty

Guru of Gangstarr Dies, Writes Letter To Supporters
Source: Allhiphop.com
Legendary Gangstarr artist Guru has succumbed to cancer after a lengthy bout with the disease.
The artist, born Keith Elam, died on Monday April 19. He was 43 years old.
Solar, Guru's partner, expressed sadness over the loss.
"The world has lost one of the best MCs and Hip-Hop icons of all-time -- my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru," Solar said in a statement. "Guru has been battling cancer for well over a year and has lost his battle! This is a matter that Guru wanted private until he could beat it, but tragically, this did not happen. The cancer took him. Now the world has lost a great man and a true genius.
Guru, a Boston native, rose to fame in the 80's as one half of Gangstarr, the iconic rap group with DJ Premier.
The group released six highly regarded albums in their tenure until 2003 when they broke up. After his successful run with Premier, Guru founded 7 Grand Records with producer Solar.
Solar went on to tend to the rapper as he fell ill, seemingly controlling the flow of information and access to Guru. Many of his family members complained that they were denied their right to see him.
Solar also said that Guru wrote a letter to fans and sent it out through a press agency.
"For the fans that reached out with love and support, I can't tell you how much that meant to Guru and myself. Guru prepared this letter (read below) while he was in the hospital for the fans," the producer continued. "I hope now that Guru has moved on to a better place."
In the letter, seen below, the rapper explains his illness, expresses gratitude to supporters and offers some parting words for DJ Premiere.
I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options.
I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting.
My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself. Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family, friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody's feelings on the matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by Solar on behalf myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own.
I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ. As the sole founder of GangStarr, I am very proud of what GangStarr has meant to the music world and fans. I equally am proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on Jazzmatazz 4 for reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music quality has reached an all time low. Solar and I have toured in places that I have never been before with GangStarr or Jazzmatatazz and we gained a reputation for being the best on the planet at Hip-Hop/Jazz, as well as the biggest and most influential Hip-Hop/Jazz record with Jazzmatazz 4 of the decade to now. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time. And we as a team were not afraid to push the envelope. To me this is what true artists do! As men of honor we stood tall in the face of small mindedness, greed, and ignorance. As we fought for music and integrity at the cost of not earning millions and for this I will always be happy and proud, and would like to thank the million fans who have seen us perform over the years from all over the world. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time and is my most creative and experimental to date. I hope that our music will receive the attention it deserves as it is some of the best work I have done and represents some of the best years of my life.

Jay-Z & Beyonce Perform "Forever Young" At Coachella!
Jay Z and Beyoncé make being together look easy. The power couple shared constant smiles and laughter while performing “Forever Young” at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival held in Indio, California. Jay Z headlined the first day of the three day festival. The crowd was greeted with a pleasant surprise when Beyoncé made her way to the stage to perform with her husband. “Forever Young” on the Blueprint 3 Album features Mr. Hudson but something tells me he wasn’t missed.

Justin Bieber Says He Gets Hip-Hop Support Because He's Not 'Corny'
Justin Bieber chills with Drake and Ludacris and he's even gotten a shout-out from Lil Wayne — how does he feel about being embraced by the hip-hop community?
"I like hop-hop a lot. I'm really glad they've taken a liking to me," he told MTV News recently. "Having Luda [on my song 'Baby'] and having Lil Wayne give me shout me out on UStream and, like, you know — it's cool."
He added that unlike many of his contemporaries, including pop stars Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, he didn't need the House of Mouse to get ahead in the industry. "I think it's because I didn't go through the Disney route," he explained. "I didn't go corny, but, like, at the same time I've been cool and collected."
And while one of his musical icons got his start on "The Mickey Mouse Club," Bieber still looks up to Justin Timberlake and his mentor, Usher. "Well, basically I look at people like Usher and Justin Timberlake and how they went from being a child star to blowing up and doing what they're doing now," he said. "I look up and see what they do and see that's what I want to do ... and things that I want to do that's different and things that I wanna do that's working for them."
And although he's working for Usher these days, he admitted he wouldn't pass up the chance to work with Wayne. "I would love to work with him in the future, but nothing so far," he explained, adding that despite all the hip-hop in his life he's actually got a lot of friends who are strictly pop.
"I mean, I just hang out with whoever. I'm also friends with Selena Gomez. I hang out with everyone," he said, adding any rumors of a swagger coach have been greatly exaggerated. "I mean, it's just a joke. It's just something we made up. ... I don't know; I'm just myself."
